With extensive teaching experience across primary and secondary schools, sixth form, tuition centres and adult education, I've worked with learners at different stages of their educational journeys, each with their own strengths, challenges and goals.
My teaching experience has shaped my belief that students can make meaningful progress when learning is broken down into manageable steps, explanations are clear, and they have opportunities to practise, receive feedback and build confidence.

Why I created LADDER English
I created LADDER English to make GCSE English more accessible, structured and less overwhelming for students.
I understand that knowing the content and knowing how to turn that knowledge into a strong exam answer are two different things. Students need clear explanations, opportunities to practise, constructive feedback and guidance on how to improve.
LADDER English is built around this step-by-step approach, helping students understand exam questions, develop their analytical and writing skills, and build confidence in their own abilities.
My aim is to make effective learning more accessible, helping students identify what they already know, understand where they need to improve and take practical steps towards their goals.
Supporting students across exam boards
LADDER English supports students preparing for GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature across AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas.
The platform focuses on helping students understand what exam questions are asking, practise the skills they need and make progress one step at a time.
Resources and exam practice should be clearly matched to the relevant exam board and specification so students can prepare with confidence.
My teaching philosophy
I believe progress isn't about being the cleverest person in the room. It's about understanding, practising, learning from feedback and continuing to improve.
Every student deserves the opportunity to build their skills, recognise their progress and develop confidence in what they can achieve.
That's why LADDER follows a structured approach to learning: breaking complex skills into manageable steps, giving students opportunities to practise and helping them understand how to improve.

What I believe about teaching English
Students should never be guessing
If a student can't tell you what they're good at and what they're working on, the marking hasn't done its job. Every screen here says where you are and what comes next.
Learn the skill, then learn the words for it
A student who can explain the effect of one word will always go further than a student who has only memorised the term 'juxtaposition'. Terminology matters — so we teach the essential terms first, make sure they can be used properly, and build towards more sophisticated language as the grade rises.
Clear instructions make English possible
'Write a paragraph about this theme' tells a student what to produce, not how to produce it. PRTEE breaks that instruction into five steps a student can actually follow: Point, Reference, Technique or Writer's Choice, Explain, Explore. Support is given generously at first, then reduced on purpose as confidence grows.
Reading should be comfortable
Colour, spacing and size are not extras. They're the difference between a student reading the extract and a student pretending to.
